Infinity display; Samsung

I can't think how they could make a flat screen that does it: the "infinity" bit is presumably a reference to an "infinity pool", so flowing over the edge, which implies curving. I doubt they can put a 90 degree bend in the display, and even if they did you'd then have a sharp, unprotected glass edge there.

I could imagine a flat display that runs almost right to the edge of the phone, but that wouldn't be the same and would still be vulnerable (landing on the side of the device would transfer the impact directly to the unsupported edge of the glass covering the screen). But to come close to that requires shrinking the side bezels a lot: in reality the side bezels of the S8 are not small at all, it's just that curving the edges down hides them from view. So I'm not sure whether Samsung could do that anyway.

It's no accident that the S8 Active does not have an infinity display.
