Info Needed For Tablet Purchase

The tablet that I have my eye on is a RCA 10 Viking Pro. I am looking for any and/or info on this tablet before I buy it. Can It be rooted? Any other info that can be had. One of the things I like already on this RCA tablet is that it has 2 USB ports, 1 is 2.0 port and the other port is a micro type B port and a 5vdc in jack for charging.

One of the problems with the ZTE K90U tablet that I have is that the ZTE take an electret capsule mic and the mic is powered by about 2.5 to 4V coming out of the mic jack. The ZTE lacks an audio manager app that tells the mic jack it is ether an electret capsule mic, a standard non powered mic or a line in, like the picture bellow. My Dell laptop has the single audio jack for in and out and the dell laptop also has the audio manager prog.

Were I am going with this is. I have an Android app that serves as a remote transceiver prog for a remote base. The digital decoder prog (like rtty) is also a sound card driven prog. I have to cross connect the sound cards for the decoder prog to receive and transmit I can do this with 2 laptops. But I don't have a dedicated space to put the 2nd laptop. As it is I have to fold and close the tablet and store it when it isn't use to make the table available.

Also if I have to go with ether a blue tooth or a USB type audio line in/out adapter, Were can I find one? I have been looking for one on eBay and found nothing.

You said "Never but a tablet you can't hold in one hand" Did you mean "Never buy"? if so why? For something that I hold in my hand I have my cell phone. The ZTE k90u is the right size 10" for what I need for a portable computer when I go to the Star Trek conventions. And I have an Android app that emulates the LCARS Operating System as seen on Star Trek next gen.

The ZTE tablet has 2 draw backs. 1. the ZTE only has 1 USB micro C port and it won't take an adapter that will charge the tablet and have a USB data port as well. 2 I can't feed audio to and from my laptop directly. The RCA tablet that I am looking at definitely address the #1 issue. I am still looking into #2 issue.

The only info I have for tablet purchases is...

"Never but a tablet you can't hold in one hand."

I got the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition and it's just to bulky and heavy to carry around. Looking back I wish I had gotten something in the 7 to 8 inch range like the pads they used in Star Trek: The Next Generation. Something like Wesley Crusher used.

I had one of those Samsung Galaxy Note 10s and it came with one of those Otter Box water resistant cases. I took the tablet out of the Otter Box and I put the Otter Box in the garage. I also didn't like the charge cord. The cord wasn't a standard micro B type USB cord and the way the wires were attached the the tablet side of the cord wasn't very strong. Everytime my nephew used the tablet, he would break the charge cord. Size wise it worked good for the LCARS Star Trek emulator and the Note 10 had the audio manager app to tell the audio jack weather it was a line in/out or a powered mic and headphones. The ZTE tablet is a good tablet except for the US Celluar (that's were I got it from) junk app's in it, I can't root it, the micro type C USB jack and no audio manager app. That's why I am looking at getting a different tablet.
OOOOO I don't carry the tablet with me in my day to day routine. I just carry my cell phone. Now when I am going on a trip like to a Star Trek convention. I have a carry case much like a cell phone belt case to carry it on my uniform belt and I also have a Star Trek tricorder and a communicator emulator app's on the tablet. I have a small bluetooth remote in my pocket by pushing buttons on the remote I can make the tablet make Star Trek type sounds.
