Root [INFO] The Breakout knows if it's been rooted!

So, I thought this could be useful-

I was reverting my phone to stock to make a warranty claim. (I had previously been running Broken Out 2.0). I reflashed a backup of the stock ROM I had and ran updates. But when I boot into recovery, there is a "rooted" option. And when clicked, it says "this device has been rooted."

So, my solution was to reflash mtmichaelson's stock recovery- which is apparently an older version and does not have that "feature." It works, but if the Verizon people run updates they will be able to tell if a Breakout has been rooted through recovery

Were you able to get the OTA updates, though? That's my problem ATM. I installed cwmrecovery, and can not get the stock recovery to install, replacing it. When I try to get the updates, it fails.

Yes, it would take the OTA update. I didn't use the stock ROM that was uploaded here, I had a nandroid backup that I restored from (right before I installed Broken Out 2.0).

Do you mean that the AIO will not flash the recovery or you cannot install updates afterwards?

When I try to go back to stock recovery, it says sending recovery , and it just sits there...the phone reboots into fastboot mode, and nothing happens.

Also, when I try to update, I get the error messages. I haven't been able to install an update for a couple months now.

Is the folder with the recovery items on the desktop? I've had issues with that. And are you running a stock ROM right now, or Broken Out?

I'm getting a replacement phone soon, so I could probably make a nandroid backup of the stock ROM if you need it.

yes, in a a folder on the desktop, running stock rom, but cwmrecovery...just want to get rid of cwm all together. it has been nothing but a nightmare, trying to get updates.

Does the AIO script give any specific errors? Is it possible that the USB cable could be messed up? Have you tried a different USB port? I'm just trying to think of possible reasons....

No errors shown...it just says sending 'recovery' (6144kb)... and it just sits there forever, and the phone has booted into fastboot.

Ok, I have an idea. Around Friday, I can post a nandroid backup of a stock ROM. If you flash that through cwm and run updates, I think that the stock recovery will overwrite cwm. Wanna give it a try?

Actually- I think the stock ROM will overwrite cwm automatically if it's completely stock, that's what mine did...

If you could post that nandroid backup I'd really appreciate it

OK so here it is:
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/30427367/Stock%20ROM.zip

Remember, it's a nandroid backup, so you have to unpack the zip and then stick the contents into the "/clockworkmod/backup" directory on your SD card.

No guarantees that this will work, but it's worth a try!

At first, I unzipped this into the /backup directory as /backup/Stock ROM. When I tried to restore, I kept getting MD5 mismatch on the MD5 check. After checking all the MD5 sums manually and not seeing any errors, I renamed the folder according to the nandroid datetime and the MD5 check succeeded! It doesn't seem to matter what datetime you use. I just made one up. After renaming, the folder path looked like this:

/clockworkmod/backup/2012-08-18.22.18.54.41

terabyte128 & joda86!!! I thought I had bricked my phone, and searched far and wide across the internet to find the stock rom...you saved the day!

YES! terabyte128 and joda86!

Don't even know if this will work for me yet, but will try it on Monday! I have a breakout that seems to be 100% stock but can't get it to take any OTA updates at all.

Will flash CWM and then restore this nandroid and see what happens!

Thanks in advance. Will let you know if it works for me!
