I am trying to guess what a cellular network provider (or just network provider) would know while using and not using internet.

I am using the term static content for details that don't change often and dynamic content for details that change often. The content in red is which I am not sure whether it is known by the network provider.

1. While I am not using the internet:
The network provider would know Non-internet based static content such as:
personal information including address, occupation, proof of identity, etc (if given/required during purchase)
sensitive personal information including as bank account details, etc,
device details such as IMEI number?, operating system?, type of device (smartphone, tablet etc.)?, MAC address of the device? etc.

[Note: I am not sure whether content such as IMEI number, operating system, type of device (smartphone, tablet etc.), MAC address of the device would come under non-internet based content or internet-based content]

The network provider would know Non-internet based dynamic content such as network-based location (which cell towers I use), call detail records (who you called and when), text message details (who you texted and when), text message content, payment history, etc.

2. While I am using the internet:
The network provider would know Internet-based dynamic content such as IP address, bandwidth consumption, location via GPS (if GPS is turned on), browsing content and history (including the date, time and duration of the internet session)?, the apps running on the device?, data sent and received by the apps?.

3. While I am using the internet via a VPN:
The network provider would know Internet-based dynamic content such as the VPN's IP address, bandwidth consumption, location via GPS?.

(Feel free to comment for any modifications if required for the above details)

They would only if the identity that was given at the initial purchase of the device is the correct identity. Far as occupation randomly (No)
IMEI (Yes)
Serial number of the device (Yes)
MAC address (Yes)
Dynamic content only json TNA, SDK and GPS. Google is more likely to have the other personal information about you rather then your cell phone provider.

3) Internet via a VPN.

Your network provider(ISP) could possibly get the VPN's location by a reverse DNS search of the VPN's IP address, rather than GPS. But it's going to be an anonymous server located in some data centre somewhere. Usually VPN providers rent servers in many data centres around the world.

Many VPN providers state that they don't log anything, apart from maybe total data usage. Also some are registered and administered from places like British Virgin Isle, basically to avoid TLA gov spooks, ordering access to private data.

Thanks KBU2 for the reply.
I have added (if given/required during purchase) for personal details in the opening post.

Would IMEI, Serial number, MAC address, operating system and type of device (smartphone, tablet etc.) come under non-internet based content or internet-based content?
Or more accurately: Would the above details be known to the network provider even if the device is not using internet?

Can you elaborate: "Dynamic content only json TNA, SDK" or give a small example?
I know that JSON stands for JavaScript Object Notation, SDK stands for Software Development Kit and after searching I found that TNA stands for Truly Native Apps.

Are you saying that when above technologies/terms are used for creating apps then the network provider would know something/everything related to those apps?

Thanks again.

In some cases yes if inquired by law enforcement agencies. But if the device is non- internet the about serve very little purpose.
