Root Information please? (widget and memory related)

Please clear up a few things for me.

I have a Rooted Samsung Portal (Spica) running the newest version of the Samdroid firmware (as found on the 'Kitchen', with Launcher Pro+ as my home screen) and I have the following habits.

I am a heavy twitter user.
I use Tapatalk Pro to use forums (also a lot) .
I play Retro Games (Gameboid and Gensoid mostly) .
I work (in an office where I can not charge it) for 8 hours a day.

My battery is currently 'playing up' and draining very quickly but I have used the reset option in the recovery menu and hopefully that will sort things out after a full 'drain'

As you can see I am quite familiar with my phone but I keep reading some conflicting information. I use system panel (from market) to manage running applications, I don't close allot or often but I do use it to make sure that google maps or other network/battery heavy applications have closed properly.

Also I use very few widgets because they use memory but this also detracts from my experience with my phone. Should I ignore this worry and assume that widgets will be fine and not drain battery/use memory? Or am I being well done?

Widgets I dont use

thank you for your info :)

Have turned screen brightness down and it really helped, strange it never occurred to me as the screen if usually off you never think of it as a factor but it looks like it is :)

As for a second battery, yeah, i think thats a great idea, i would prefer a larger capacity one though (will look see if such a thing even exists) those battery in the link you gave comparable in quality to the Samsung one?

Also, my phone has a new feature when i play really long MP3's (Podcasts) it seams to crash and i have to pull the battery when it happens (using winamp for android) -any thoughts?

I would say the batteries are about the same as the original, not noticed any difference to be honest.

Pete
