Infuse - switch apps?

Is there a way in the Infuse to switch back and forth between all the open apps? If not, why are they still open after I leave them? I have found that if I hit the back button, it will let me retrace some steps to an app, but I can't just go to one I hve left via the home button.

Press and hold the home button and it will give you the last 6 or 8 apps you used.

I thought I had tried that before and the app I had just been in wasn't there, but that does seem to be the answer. Thanks.
