insignia flex 8 ns-14t002 bricked

I took in a bricked insignia flex 8 model number: ns-14t002 from my friend hoping I could do anything with it but I don't know much about Android tablets but I'm determined to fix it. It has a power button, vol. + and vol. -. So what happens is when I turn it on, it opens to the insignia logo and just stays on that screen forever. I tried to go through recovery mode by holding power and vol. + at the same time but it goes to an android with open belly saying "no command". Geek squad basically said it's done for and time for a new tablet but I'm willing to try anything anyway to find any use for it
