insta dms aren't working

I can send messages (most of the time), and the notifications are coming up and I can click on the chats but the other persons messages aren't being displayed at all. I've tried logging out (when I logged back in all my chats were completely deleted but when I made new convos the old messages came back, but I can't see any of the new messages), turning the wifi on and off, completely shutting down my phone and going back in and nothing is working. does anyone know how to fix this?

Possibly Instagram is having downtime from full service, maybe because of GDPR compliance updates?

Have you tried it on other WiFi networks or 4G data?

I'm sure the solution would have to come from Instagram, if it is their problem. Maybe worth you contacting their tech support about it.

I don't use Instagram myself, and I don't know anyone else who does.
