Install Kodi on sd card

My tablet runs 4.4 Kitkat.
I have my movie library on an sd card but Kodi can't access it and also I can't download new content from within Kodi to the card.
Is it possible to install Kodi on the card without rooting ?

You need a UPnP / DLNA server.

There are plenty out there to try, the Bubble dev is very responsive.

No idea about file upload to your tablet with it. If it won't work, there are many file transfer servers you can add to your Android, maybe that would help.

As I don't think that's possible with your tablet with standard, unrooted Android (and very much doubt that the app location would make any difference even if you did that), I responded in parts, beginning with -

With a UPnP/DLNA server, Kodi ought to be able to see your movie library.

And then suggested a file management workaround for the second half of your question.
