Root installed the new DU but now gapps won't install

I tried using the banks gapps at the DU site first and the installation failed. Then I tried the old PA Gapps I had installed the last time and they didn't work either. Any other ideas? I'm downloading the DU gapps now but I'm worried they won't work either. I did a clean install.

eta: I installed 9.8. I didn't realize there was a 10. I guess I should reflash.

I'm giving up for now. I managed to flash version 10, and install the gapps. But now titanium backup sticks for hours at "searching application data" and none of the fixes I found online will do any good. I'm restoring my twrp backup and will try a different rom, maybe.
