How to solve “insufficient space on the device” error on Micromax Canvas Gold (A300). It comes with 32GB internal storage and there is option to extend storage using external sd card. Manufacturer divided the space into two partitions as 2gb for internal storage and 30gb for phone storage. My concern is how to increase or merge internal storage ?

I've had a similar problem after updating my Sony Xperia to the latest official version of Android supported by Sony directly. The problem was solved after I used a custom rom and now I have more free space. If you're not looking for a custom ROM, you can try to root your Android device and use an app to try and modify the partitions or create more free space to use when installing applications. You can also try to move the applications installed on your device to the SD card as they are installed - this will free up more space on the internal storage for new apps to be installed.

An alternative is to go to your apps that you don't use that often and clear their cache - this can also free up some space on your device. I've found Google Chrome to be the biggest issue here and at one time cleared around 300MB (Google Chrome's cache).

Here's an article on how to install apps to your SD Card by default that might be of help to you: http://www.fixedbyvonnie.com/2014/06/install-android-apps-sd-card-default/

Let me know if any of this solves the problem :)
