Help Intermittent Messages Not Being Received (1 fix)

Both my wife and I on the M9 with T-Mobile have noticed intermittent issues with not receiving texts. Very hard to diagnose with other people as you don't want to bother them with, "Why didn't you answer me?". After a conversation with a co worker over text, the conversation just dropped off. We figured he was sending but I just wasn't receiving all of the texts. I was receiving some but not all. I dunno if it was a corrupt file, but I cleared out all the threads and then texts from the previous 24 hours from different sources (partial threads in some) that I hadn't gotten started being received. I only had about 400 text messages that deleted when I cleared all the threads. What causes this and what can I do to prevent it...clear my threads weekly?

My daughter has an M9,,,,

I am using a Galaxy s5

Once in a while a message hangs up, or I don't get a message. I just delete the whole thread, and then all is well.
never bothered to try and figure out why.
it seems like, it only occurs in message threads that have a huge amount of pictures in them.
