Root [International Tegra 3] CyanogenMod 10

Hi there guys. I am a bit impatient and am thinking of installing CyanogenMod 10 on my HTC One X so i can be using jelly bean as i have the nexus 7 and love the OS. Just a few questions really...

If i do it will it void my warrantee? And also, is it easy enough to revert back to stock software on the phone?

And finally, if i install it, will i still get OS updates, such as 4.1.1 etc?

Many thanks

Dave

Yes, it will void your warranty (sort of) and getting back to stock is relatively easy. If you have a proven hardware fault, HTC or your carrier will probably replace/repair if you push them hard enough. My first handset developed a hardware issue and despite the fact I was rooted and running a custom ROM, Orange replaced with no issues.

CM10 is 4.1.1 at the moment and you'd need to reflash the ROM to update it (it's easily done though).

Fwiw, I've tried a couple of CM10/Jellybean Roms, and so far the most stable has been tbaldens. I've been talking about it a little here: http://androidforums.com/international-tegra-3-one-x-all-things-root/605263-jelly-bean-roms.html

Thats awesome! Thanks for replying :) I take it most Play store apps work fine with the rom?

Is there a link anywhere for if i ever wanted to revert back to stock software?

Also, installing tbaldens.. does it matter what network i'm on? Sorry for being a pain, i've never installed anything like this so am a bit worried :( haha

Thanks

Dave

Network shouldn't make a difference, although the process won't make your phone SIM free.

Once you've unlocked your bootloader and installed your custom recovery, just use that to take a backup of your current OS, that's what you'll need to return to stock. Alternatively you can go for an RUU. That's just an exe file ran from the PC which wipes the phone and totally installs everything from scratch.

What network are you on at the moment? I'll need that to get the proper RUU to help you return to stock.

Hi there, thanks for getting back to me :)

The phone is originally a vodafone handset but is unlocked to all networks and i'm using an o2 sim card.

Thanks

Dave
