Hi all.
I have some good news for members on here that think all rights to guarantee are lost once you use HTCDEV to root. My friend has had his HOX for 2 months and the on /off button has been playing up EG hit and miss to switch on or off. Cut a long story short HTC refused repair as he had rooted the phone. He decided to pursue them to get it repaired under warranty using the SALE OF GOODS ACT fit for purpose. All info can be found on this site with template letters to send ETC for diffrent situations. HERE
I won't go into detail of his case as each case i assume will be treated on it's own merits. But HTC have to prove that his altering of the software caused the problem to his phone. Now if he had taken it apart they may be within there rights. Just rooting the device could not possibly break the power button.
So keep all documentation go through the red tape and you will get the repair he has. Also Spend time reading and preparing your letter from the site i have linked to. Hope this helps some of you out. REGARDS PAUL
