I recently rooted my HTC One X and put CM10.1 on it. Before i started I backed up my sms with the htc sms backup. I dont seem to be able to restore those texts.

Is there anyway to restore them or is the only way to flash a sense 5 rom, restore the sms, backup using a different app then restore it that way?

Thanks

Not it wasnt tb is was just the one that was build into sense. In the messaging app, backup/restore sms. I can see the file. Its on my sd card under sms backup with a file called SD_20131012_146777_0

You need the app backup and restore sms or mms to open . Was you root ed when you did the backup and did you move the folder at anytime

Unfortunately it doesnt work. The backup sms app doesnt see the files and CM10.1 doesnt seem to have a sms restore in the default messaging app. Which means the vid (thanks for the message) doesnt seem to work either. Unless im missing something

The backup was does before the root. I think the problem might be because it was done with Sense.

That maybe but did you try to copy and paste the app used to backup and see if you can get that app to work with

It wasnt an custom app I used to backup. It was the stock htc messaging app.

A google around doesnt seem to have much answers :(

You'll have to go back to a Sense ROM, restore the SMS's, then use Titanium Backup or one of the SMS Backup and restore apps on Play to back them up again.

That will create an xml file on the virtual SD Card which you can then restore using SMS Backup & restore on CM10.

The Sense backup app only works with Sense ROMs unfortunately.

Ok thanks, pity.

I might just leave them there then. Nothing particularly important lost.

Ok thank you very much.

You would recommend that over using titanium backup?

For ages, I didn't know TB had the option to backup SMS's.

On most ROM's, the messaging app is classed as a system app and it's not recommended you transfer data from system apps between different ROMs so I used the SMS Backup & Restore app instead.

With TB, the process is manual (explained towards the end of the this post) and with the SMS Backup & Restore App, I can set it up to run to a schedule and never have to worry about it again.

I suppose it's because I'm lazy TBH.

Like yourself, I wouldn't really lose anything important if I didn't back my messages up, but I got in to the habit of doing it a while back and now have over 3K backed up. There's nothing important there, I'd just be a little miffed if I lost them all now.

Just to say thanks. Ive got TB and the sms backup running now. The SMS Back and restore is very helpful Have it set to backup to Dropbox. Everything seems to be running smoothly.
