Root [International] Unlocked phone when updating to jelly bean will it take it off?

Ok so as we know jelly bean should be coming out soon, my phone was previously on T-Mobile although I got it unlocked to O2, i was wondering when I update will my unlock be removed or will it stay? I checked to see if the phone was rooted when unlocking and it isn't.
Anyone shed some light on this. Thanks.

Your phone will remain unlocked after the update.

I tried doing an OTA update and it didn't work, how would I go about updating? Sorry this is my first Android and I am confused...As there is an update available although I think it's the one which adds the brightness thing to the notifications..

You could try hooking your phone up to kies and see if it gets updated.

I wouldn't have thought SIM unlocking your phone would stop the official updates from working but if you can't get the ota or kies update to work you'll have to flash firmware manually from samfirmware using Odin.

Sorry for the delay. No your phone won't get wiped when updating.

I always do a factory reset after updating a ROM, especially if going from one Android version to another (ie, ICS to JB). I know it's a pain to backup/restore personal data and re-install apps, but you will get the most out of the new ROM that way and it can solve a lot of problems.
