Introduction to Android OS

LightXI

Lurker
Hello everyone,

I am LightXI, and I am a new user on this forum! I am here to learn about the Android OS and generally, about smartphones. I have never used a smartphone (only borrowed from other people for very short periods of time) before, and I plan to use Samsung Galaxy Prevail on BoostMobile shortly.

I have intellectual curiosity, but more than anything, common sense/logic that might help best when learning Android. I am a physics undergrad student and am learning programming on Javascript and Python. I have experience with web design and basic programs and systems: HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL, and Unix on Mac OS X. I am looking forward to learning programming and design, but before I do that, I'd like to learn the very basics (really, starting from the most elementary skills and knowledge! I am quite unexposed).

Leave a comment down here to recommend me how/where I should start. I will be ordering my Prevail very soon and would like to start right away customizing it, rooting it (I only know it means "superuser" access, thanks to Unix training), and so on!

My best regards to everyone. Happy browsing!

Hey, welcome to Android Forums. I think you should start in the Prevail section here at AF. What better way to start than to know your device inside and out prior to getting it. Here is a link to the Prevail area. Samsung Galaxy Prevail - Android Forums I hope you enjoy these forums and can gain an insight to your device and the Android OS.
