I bought a china phone a while back. About 2 days after I bought it, I did a hard reset on it, and I have "Invalid IMEI".

I let this phone sit in a drawer for the last 18 months... I'm thinking of seeing if I can get it to work, and give it to my daughter.

I am showing a model number e1000_gqx10
Android Version 2.2.1 (gag me)
baseband version maui.10a.w10.48.mp.v5f1
kernel version 2.6.32.9
Build Number ALPS.10y.w10.48.mp.v2.03.p9

Is there anyway I can enter in an IMEI direct from the phone?
Also.. It looks like the USB cable is the same cable for the older Samsung phones... Are sync cables all standard? If I go and buy a Samsung sync cable , will there be a 90% chance it will work? Then maybe I can reprogram the IMEI in this beast using USB? I wonder how a newer version of Droid will work in this dinosaur.. LOL

Changing the IMEI of a phone is illegal. Normally if the phone corrupted and lost/broke the IMEI, you could send it back to the manufacturer to repair it. However with this being an old Chinese android, that doesn't seem like much of an option unfortunately.

Since there's not much that can be done legally, I'm going to lock this thread. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to pm me.
