Invalid MMI code

Hello Everybody,
I recently replaced the motherboard in my S5, with one from a Verizon S5 phone.
The transplant went well. I changed sim cards from Verizon(used for activation) back to my old provider Telecom.
I can dial out and receive calls, txt's etc -->all working fine.
But what does not work is USSD codes . Every time I get "Connection problem or invalid MMI code".
I have tried a few suggestions, I found online, but nothing seems to work (so far).
This phone was working fine originally, and so were all these codes, until the S5 stopped functioning, hence the motherboard replacement.
The S5 used to be model SM-G900 and is now SM-G900V V 6.01 android.
Can anyone please help?;)

You do not say which of the 42 models your SM-G900 used to be. See #1.6 & #1.8 of
42 Galaxy S5 models - Dummies Guide which explains that certain carriers, notably Verizon & AT&T, do not run stock Samsung firmware or have the stock engineering codes such as *#1234#, *#*#4636#*#*, etc:

Sounds like it could be sending USSD codes that are specific to Verizon, and if the network carrier isn't Verizon it's showing the errror. I guess they're hard-coded into the G900V variant motherboard's baseband and firmware possibly?

Thank you for your replies. My apologies, I should have been more specific.
The original S5 was model SM-G900V as well. That info is on a label under the battery.
Yet the original one was purchased new in New Zeeland from Spark (formerly called Telecom NZ)

That explains the lack of codes then as Verizon remove them.

It seems very strange that Spark in New Zealand would sell a U.S. carrier branded phone that is locked, configured and intended for use on Verizon's CDMA network in the USA when Spark are GSM and the phone will only work on 3G on their NZ network. See, Will My Phone Work?

Thank you. I did a check re 'Will my phone work" The result is what you mentioned 3G only.
I just wonder how to proceed from here, as i still have no solution to the "lack" of codes.
I downloaded "Phone info samsung v364 apk" .It shows a lot of info about the phone, but also no obvious solution...

See, Problem with MMI code, post #5, onwards, "may", help.

Thank you, I watched the video clip.-->the solution it gives is for phones with 2 sim cards.
I was wondering the fact that with the original motherboard I had access to the codes, and with the current board (also a SM-G900V ) I have not.
Previously you said that Verizon has erased the codes (on the new motherboard): If i understand this correctly, than there must also be a way to reverse this eg a new install??
Hence I had a look at flashing the S5 using Odin(3).BUT there are some pitfalls. i would appreciate any opinions..

Thank you
well........
At the moment it is a bit like driving around in a car without a spare tire.
I would like the codes for:
for example-->
Factory soft/hard reset
Diagnostic test
BT / lan test
General / Clock test
GPS control
Light sensor
Debugging
and a few more.

You can't, other than changing to a more suitable phone. A Verizon Wireless variant S5 just doesn't have the bands and modes for 4G outside of North America AFAIK. Also Verizon (Big Red/Big Brother) likes to keep users out of engineering modes and things, that's why the codes are not recognized.

Unfortunately the " lack of codes" problem, remains without a suitable solution.
Many thanks to all, for your help and suggestions.

You could try flashing a custom ROM for the G900V that isn't Verizon crippled.

However much of the online information about the S5 is rather old now, and so some download URLs may no longer be valid. And a custom ROM will NOT change anything with that phone's North America only 4G bands and modes.
