For more colors when drawing, or on enlarged text, you can go beyond the visible color selections.
Drag from there to the rest of the screen for the expanded color palette.
On my HTC One A9, it glitches when using the hidden colors on text. The keyboard sticks onscreen, but can be cleared with combination of opening fullscreen apps and locking the phone.
