Invoice2go vs QuickBooks Online

UncleMike

Android Expert
I've been using Invoice2go for almost two years, but only signed up for their Cloud2go service this year, gaining additional features along with it. Frustrated by changes to Invoice2go, I started taking a look at QuickBooks online. My primary interest is being able to create/edit invoices while in the field, so there's that much less I have to do when I get home. Secondary is mobile entry of expenses (as they happen). Third, I would like to minimize the time spent on "accounting" once home.

I'm finding the QuickBooks Online app for Android to be quite limited, particularly when entering invoice line items with descriptions of more than a few words. My labor descriptions tend toward verbose, and the tiny text entry field is all but useless. There's also no ability to enter expenses in the app. On the plus side, for things I can do in the Android app, there's nothing left to do when I get home.

I'd love to hear from anyone using either app, and your likes and dislikes, but more so from QuickBooks Online users, since I'm not as familiar with it, and may be overlooking or hyper-sensitive to some things.

Hi there. I realize this is an old post but I thought I'd respond to it anyway as we are also looking to switch invoicing apps for the 2nd time in the last 6 months.

I have been an invoice2go user for 3 months now. My company also used Mobilebiz prior to that. We are a DSD (direct store distributor) and work in the field. Currently we handwrite invoices but input them into invoice2go. When the handwritten invoices reach the office, I personally have to input them into Quickbooks.

As an office manager I find it very annoying that we have so many redundancies regarding invoices. My partner agrees that it doesn't make sense for us to lug around full size printers just so we can print thru invoice2go (which is why we still handwrite them). We also can't email invoices because the industry standard is still tangible invoices. It also doesn't make sense that the app does not export to quickbooks, nor can it keep track of sales of multiple sales reps.

We've looked into quickbooks online, mobilebiz co (again), but are leaning towards InvoiceASAP.

It's not perfect, but it does the 3 main things we are looking for it to do which are: track team sales, sync with quickbooks, and it supports bluetooth thermal printers which would allow us to print "small field friendly" invoices on the spot.

The printing is the main reason why we like Invoice ASAP over Quickbooks online/mobile although inputting expenses on the fly wasn't something I was even thinking about.

Which app are you using now and why?

I stuck with Invoice2go. While I'm sure QuickBooks Online (and its Android App counterpart) have changed since I last used it, so has Invoice2go - and most of the changes to Invoice2go have been positive. When I was testing QuickBooks Online, it seemed like mobile use was an afterthought.

Printing is not an issue for me, since most of my work is subcontract work and the invoice doesn't even go to the people on site, though I do need to scribble some notes and get a signature on the work order.

What I love about Invoice2go is its simplicity and professional invoice templates compared to other services that are highly sophisticated and complex. Some are too basic and lack various functionalities. Invoice2Go falls squarely into that segment. It provides basic invoice bill format and payment capabilities and also gives the user understanding of how the business is running. It doesn’t have a complete accounting system, meaning, you’ll still need a small business accounting app to compliment accounting services. Invoice2Go is an incredible app. Try it out if you have a small or medium business.
