Welcome to Android Forums nishank! Android Forums is where I made my first ever post too. There are several staffers who are knowledgeable with computers and networking. I happen to not be one of them. But as soon as some others see this thread they will chime in. We're always glad to help.

Are you sure you have the system set up: Cable input (the actual cable/coaxial line itself) > cable provider modem > router.

Configuration of the router is all-important, as it has to be compatible with all devices on the network, laptops, PCs and handheld devices like your Galaxy Y: the password/key, the type of security encryption (WEP, WPA, etc), the SSID should be in "broadcast" mode, not "hidden," etc.

ya i have tried everything
yes my router supports dhcp mode but its not working even at dhcp mode
all the configurations are correct
ssid has not been hidden.

Just noticed this was in private chat with staff, so I moved it to computers and it so other members can jump and help out. Drop me a pm if there are any objections. :)

Okay, so DHCP is *not* working? That is where I'd look. You *could* statically assign it, but that's not really what ya want. Check your PCs connection and see if that is picking up the address via DHCP or was statically assigned.

Yeah, so if your PC is assigned statically, that means (as IOWA said) that every network device you add will need to be added (statically) to the same network.

If you google your router and DHCP tutorial, you'll be able to find a surefire way to get it up and running in no time. And DHCP really does simplify things, and I would guess that you don't really have devices that can't or shouldn't be assigned via DHCP... so no real issue there.

DHCP it up!

At last i did it
i assigned netmask as 255.0.0.0
All the other things were put as provided by the cable operator(ip adress, default gateway......)
And it worked
thanx everyone for there replies and concern
