iPhone 4 for Virgin Mobile in Canada, but not USA?

I wonder why it's not available here, but just next door. Does this suggest in the future VM USA will release the iPhone 4 (or 5 that will be coming out in the next couple months?)

Virgin Mobile in Canada is not affiliated in anyway with the US version,i think they use bell as the provider where the US uses Sprint, you will see a prepaid iphone version in the US in the near future, not sure what carriers will offer them.

lou is right they are two different companies. I would love a no contract iphone also...

So is it possible to see VM get the iPhone if sprint does?

I used to have an iPhone 3G on AT&T's prepaid service. Right before I got it they dropped their unlimited data (was $20 a month) to $20 for 200megs of data, then the next month they dropped that to 100 megs for $20. Right now you can get unlimited text, data and voice for $50 a month or 500 megs of data for $25 a month (no voice or text).

Read a couple of articles on the inteweb hinting that apple wishes to capture some of the smartphone market share of prepaid by offering the iphone 3rd gen as prepaid in the $350 range. It also possibly plans on releasing the 5th gen as early as sept. Will see.... think it's possible... would VM be a likely prepaid carrier of the iphone? Would ATT or Verizon expand thier prepaid options? Hard to say... I think we'll have some exciting prepaid options in 2012 no matter what happens.

So with the announcement of the iPhone 5 coming to Sprint and T-Mobile in October, I feel that there might be more leniency toward a release of an iPhone (whether it's a gen behind) to Virgin Mobile.

Should I try emailing VM about their involvement with Apple after the 4th when Sprint officially gets it? I probably would not expect much of an answer though...

Id just wait... if VM USA decides to carry the IPhone, news will hit the net like crazy and everyone will know hehe.

I have a friend on Wow in my guild who has an IPhone from VM Canada and he's very happy with it.

Well I decided to try my luck at emailing VM about the iPhone. Here is the response I got this morning:

Thanks for contacting Virgin Mobile Customer Care.

I'm glad to hear that you wish to become part of the Virgin Mobile family, but unfortunately you will not be able to use phones different than those that we offer as only the ones we offer work with us. As a Sprint's prepaid division, we offer different services and products. Sorry about that.

The iPhone availability is just something we don

Sprint just got the iPhone, Verizon has only had it what 18 months? T-Mobile doesn't have it. No way Virgin is going to get it anytime soon if at all.

To add to what MacFett said, I think if the iPhone were to come to VM it would cost more than what most would be willing to pay for. I honestly think VM would charge anywhere between 3 to 5 hundred bucks for the phone.

It is too bad the 3GS never had a cdma version............it would have been more affordable given its 'free' now on contract. I hope apple is watching this thread.......put a CDMA radio it and sell it pre-paid :)
