Iphone 4S to Android

Lurker
I am on contract through AT&T. My Iphone 4s got messed up and now I have to replace my phone but I cannot afford the deductable. I was told I could use a go-phone (please correct me if that's wrong) on a plan. I was looking into android but was wondering what I would need to do regarding the different sim cards in apple/android

Thank you

You should be able to insert your current SIM into an AT&T GoPhone. I think the 4s uses the MicroSIM(correct me if i'm wrong). Be aware that sometimes carriers will not allow a prepaid SIM to be used on a contract phone(if it's contract). Call AT&T customer service to get the full info. though. Good Luck!

What's your budget, OP?

I recommend the Moto G or Moto E if you're in need of a good phone on the cheap. The E can be had for $120, and the G for $170ish. Both are excellent value for the buck.

Hi azotre, and welcome to our community! :ciao:

I second bjacks12's recommendation. The Motorola devices are much more current and capable than the GoPhones - and they'll work fine with either a contract or prepaid.

My only concern is that my Iphone 4s used a micro-sim and I'm not sure what the android uses. I am on a contract now but since I cannot afford the deductible for a replacement, I am going to have to get a go-phone. My budget is about 110. I was looking on the Z998 on walmart.com

What will I need to do to switch from my contract phone to a prepaid phone?

My research shows that the Z998 uses a micro-sim card, just as your 4S does. Specs seem ok and it does have LTE. I don't know if AT&T blocks gophones from their post-paid service though.
