iPhone 5s vs. Amazon Fire Phone

AMOCO

The Computer Guy
My room mate is looking for a phone to replace his old iPhone 4c. And he has been looking at both of the devices.
He likes the price of the Amazon Fire Phone,But as you can tell he really likes iPhones.
Now looking at the Specs alone on the Fire phone,It seems to be faster,Right?
My question is: Which is the better phone?
And please be fair,No android fanboy's.Just the honest truth or opinion.

PS.I'm an android fanboy.

Amazon Fire phone is only on ATT in the US AFAIK. That might be a deciding factor to consider as well. iPhone is available for all carriers I believe. And a Fire is only Amazon, not Google, so don't know if that's going to cause any problems with certain apps your room mate might require. Again iPhone, no problems with that.

I'm an Android fanboy myself, but I'm not really fan a of these walled-garden forked versions though, like Amazon's FireOS, and also things like Alibaba's YunOS. Frankly I'd rather have an iPhone in that case.

based on your roommate already an iPhone user and fan...

and what I have heard of the Amazon phone .. reviews.. failure... small market.. forked Android OS...

I would recommend the iPhone 5s to this person. less future issues with buyer remorse.

If those two were my only personal options, well it's not a decision id have to think about, but based on background data you provided :-(

IPhone for your pal :'(

You can't tell how fast a phone is by the specs alone. If your roommate likes the iPhone, he should get an iPhone. If price is a strong consideration, he can get a used iPhone 5 or used iPhone 6, which would be comparable to or cheaper than the Amazon Fire Phone.

I haven't used a Fire Phone, but I do have the original Fire tablet. It is a good device, but your friend probably won't enjoy the lack of apps available for it.

There's a Play Store mod for the Fire Phone - but buying to mod isn't for everyone. I'd be OK with that plan but that's just me.
