iPhone and gmail integration

This is for the bf who uses an iPhone...I'm an Android guy so do not have these issues :D

The bf uses gmail and has the iPhone 4. Everything works fine with his gmail but the synching doesn't seem to be perfect. If he sends a message on his phone, it shows in the Sent box on his phone but not if he then goes into gmail on his computer. And sometimes things get duplicated between the Gmail on his phone and in the Mail app/programme on the Macbook.

Does anyone know what I am talking about here, and how to resolve it/improve the synching and integration? These seem so basic that I wouldn't have thought there would actually such issues using Gmail on the Mail app on a MacBook and iPhone. Everything else like push notifications even for calendar work fine.

I think he has some synching issues with contacts too but not sure what they are so I will leave that one for now.

Thanks!

How often does he have his phone set to sync with Gmail? If only once or twice and hour, then if he checks on the PC right away after sending from the phone, it may just not show in the sent folder yet. Or are you saying it never shows in the sent folder? I don't ever remember having that problem when I was using my iPhone, but it's been a couple of years and many updates to iOS, maybe something has changed. Anyways, checking the sync frequency and go from there.
