iPhone defector needs help choosing Android apps

klopus

Newbie
I had iPhone(s) for more than 2 years and now despite iPhone 4 want to switch to Android, probably Incredible on Verizon. I'm a total newbie to Android though being developer myself understand what it is ;) .

I have a few favorite iPhone apps and would appreciate if you can suggest Android alternatives:

  • What's On? - TV cable listings
  • Flight Track Pro - does what title says and does it well plus integrates with TripIt
  • Navigon US & Canada - I seriously use this one a lot and it replaced my Garmin standalone GPS Nav. I know that Android comes with free Goggle GPS Nav app that even supports TTS but as far as I understand it doesn't store all maps on-board and requires data connection to give you directions.

Associated question is what do I do with my iTunes library. Is there something that allows to easily sync non-protected MP3s and AACs to Android phone?

Thanks!

For the music, cant you just drag/drop them in? I think there are a few media sync solutions, but i dont understand why they are needed

I am very satisfied with the google maps navi, but id also love to hear of any solutions which store maps locally .. i didnt know anything like that was on here

thanks!

syncing itunes:
isyncr
double twist

GPS:
CoPilot
Note, that I've not used the GPS in my phone, it's just what people seem to like.

No idea about the other questions, I don't use programs like those.

I am on the Htc legend here in the UK and using copilot 8 which is amazing fully customizable and i have yet to see it recognise a road whatever i put in it finds. I also like the google satnav but for the very reason that it Dloads maps as you go along it is not viable in case ther is no connection. I would recommend copilot 8 and it is quite reasonble in price altho i didnt have to pay.

Good news! If you like Navigon so much then you don't have to give it up. Navigon is on Android too! You can also try CoPilot or iGo MyWay as well.
