you are asking this in an N1 forum? seriously?
Well I just made the jump to the N1 and i'll tell you the iphone does media much better with itunes. The iphone has a more "intuitive" UI.
However, you will get bored after a while. You can't customize, you can't multitask, applications are tightly controlled by apple.
Thats where the N1 comes in. For the average consumer I'd say iphone is better, but if you are a geekier guy that likes to tinker with his gadgets and try new things then the n1 is for you.
When N1 hits verizon, the network will also be another HUGE plus.

I have both --- I love both. Each have different functionalities that I like about each one. It's a very very tough call. If someone said you could only have one ... I would have to say iPhone (don't everyone kill me). Main reasons:
AT&T 3G
Quality of Apps / App selection
Syncing with iTunes movies/videos
Battery life
$75 in iTunes gift cards I haven't used yet!
Everything else i can live without.
That being said --- I don't plan on swapping my SIM back into my iPhone anytime soon. Both are great phones and you wont be making a bad decision going with either one. Especially if you have never had either before --- you have nothing to be disappointed with / wish you had.

ahh i see, yea the media on iphones are cool but i like the fact that you can just drag and drop media on the n1 as opposed to HAVING TO HAVE ITUNES. (your own itunes at that)

wasnt a bad phone.. just lacking multitasking, flash, itunes..(you know what i mean) ect...and oh yea INSURANCE!

Yeah I mean there are good iTunes sync programs for putting your music easily on your phone. The issue comes with movies or tv shows I paid for that now I cant watch on my N1.

i just switched from a 3gs, and at first it took some getting used to. but i now use mediamonkey , instead of itunes for my n1. it works great and does album art. as for videos, i just install them off vuze or straight off my hard drive and works perfect. as far as liking my n1 better, i like it alot better, and my iphone freinds that try out my n1 like it better as well. i havent had any issue with tmobile except i had to wait a day for 3g to work. but really like tmobile alot more than at&t and there pricing.
I second everything said above, with one caveat, if you are game to Jailbreak your iPhone, then the iPhone has many more options and features to customize at this time. I have a jailbroken iPhone and I currently can multitask and switch between running apps using backgrounder and proswitcher. I have been bouncing back and forth between the jailbroken iPhone, an HD2 and the N1 and while I love all three phones, the killer for me is the keyboard on the iPhone, it's simply hands down the best on screen keyboard bar none. In the keyboard comparison, the iPhone wins, HD2 comes in second (responsiveness and size of keys) and the N1 is a distant 3rd.
Additionally, the apps stores are of no comparison. the only app I found on Android that is as good as those on the Apple App Store is SportsTap. The Android market and apps do not yet have the polish and completeness that apps on the AppStore do. I believe Android will close the gap, but it's going to take a little while.
The other killer for me right now is that the N1 does not fully integrate with my companies Exchange environment. I've been hunting for an addon that does the trick but while Moxier and Touchdown are decent tries, they are not as complete as the iPhone integration with Exchange, which already had some problems. I'm hoping that Google wises up and realizes if they want business users, they need better exchange integration, but with their corporate push for Google Apps, we may never see that and if that is their strategy you will see a very slow adoption of Android in corporate america. Also, the N1 is a pain to use out in the bright sun, the iPhone kills it there too.
With that said, I'm looking forward to hearing what Apple has to say next week on iPhone 4.0. I'm also waiting patiently for the Verizon N1 since I'm hoping that perhaps Verizon will convince Google to fix some of their issues with Android (most notably Exchange Integration) and you could have me leaning more towards android. plus there is that Network comparison between Verizon and AT&T...it's kind of like the comparison of the iPhone keyboard to the N1...Verizon kicks AT&Ts ass.
To conclude I do feel that Android is here to stay and if Google can find some way to fight the market segmentation that is happening with the platform, it could close the gap seriously on the iPhone. The hardware that the N1 is based upon and the build quality of the N1 blows the iPhone away, but the OS on the iPhone is still more polished than Android, but Android is young and there are a lot of programmers backing it up. So time will allow it to close in on the iPhone if Apple doesn't keep pushing forward hard.
I think if Apple doesn't get the iPhone landed at Verizon before the end of the summer, then the iPhone will be passed rather quickly by Android in the coming 2 years. If the iPhone lands at Verizon this June, and Google doesn't get Android segmentation handled, the iPhone will pretty much rule the US Smartphone Market for some time to come.

Get the N1. Youtube is going to be doing movie rentals starting Friday. So, I'm sure you'll be able to stream movies just like on iTunes. Granted... they're just Sundance Film Festival movies

I am considering buying a N1 as well and have a quick question. I have read where the Droid does multi-tasking of applications, though the iPhone doesn't. Also, I have read that with Verizon you can not use an app and be on the phone as their celluar technology limits this ability.
So my question is, can I multi-task with apps while being on the phone with a Nexus 1 and using Tmobile?

I have another question I hope no one minds answering. I have read where Nexus 1 has turn by turn instructions and has (or soon to have) a car dock like the Droid. One thing I really liked about the droid was the magnets that would sense if it was on a dock or car holder and auto adjust to an alarm clock format or turn by turn.
My question is, does the Nexus have the same ability to auto sense it is in a charging/syncing dock and go into auto-clock (alarm clock) format? I am not sure if there is a dock for the N1 available as of right now, though I have read there is one on the way.

`Ok i know this is kind of a sore subject, but seriously im going to either an N1 or an iphone and i just wanna make the right choice
and i must say im leaning towards an N1
so to the dudes who have both devices, which one is teh winner in your book?
i would get neither at this time:
dont get iphone 3gs because iphone 4 is coming out in may.
dont get N1 because not only android sucks big time and not only the apps are not even close to the iphone's, but also because the N1 itself has a lot of technical hardware glitches. if you read about all the hardware issues and still decide to get the N1, then you are one risk-taker.

I imagine that the 3 gold contacts at the base of the phone could provide this type of feature.
I would think that most other functions could be handled bt the USB connection.
