iPhone type notifications

Hey,

does anyone know of an app or widget that can give android iPhone-type notifications. Meaning, when you have a missed call or text message or email, or anything, a big thing appears in the center of the screen that is huge and impossible to miss. for some people, esp the older ones (i.e. my father) it is hard to remember and, more over, to see the notification area at the top of the screen. It would really help if there was an app that brought large notifications to the center of the screen, just like the iPhone and the iTouch do.

For text messages if you install a new program such as chomp or handcent you can select to have a pop up that allows quick text back. That may help for texting.

There is an SMS popup app that works with the stock SMS application as well.
