Iphone vs Android

Lets say verizon decided to get the iPhone this year (summer) and it is confirmed. Would you get a iPhone or Android, lets say the Passion
 
The Gen4 iPhone is supposed to be out this spring, but unless it is that far above anything else, I will go with an Android which the manufacturers should have some great phones to run.
 
Droid! AT&T Service is horrible... The storage space on a iphone is whackola. Ive had them all and most recent, i had i Iphone, I lived in DC, And traveled to miami, my touch pro had better service, I also went to Oklahoma last month, The iphone wasnt the greatest. Now Im up in NY and i gave my friend his iphone back as he was on vaca, and i wanted to try it out. I almost went to the dark side, but instead i got a DROID!!! FTW! Ive been with Verizon for 4yrs, before that Sprint for 5 and AT&T I had for 5 yrs back in the day, If i was to go back to anyone it would be sprint, As I feel Digital service is the way to go.... But if verizon did have it, id still say no, I like the droid system, its well rounded.
 
In the office where I work, the nearly everyone who has a smartphone has a iPhone. Network admins, system admins, web developers, almost every member of the staff carry their iPhones like the phone is the most important thing in the world.

I bought the Eris in part because it is not an iPhone. I want to be different, at least for a while, until the Android phones become more popular.
 
I actually liked the iPhone when i had one, but with that said I would still go with Android. I feel it can go further than the iPhone.
 
I'm honestly torn. I know where this board's bias lies, but I'm a hardcore Apple user and there are a lot of things I like about the iPhone. I think at this point I'd lean towards a 4th gen iPhone on VZW because I basically want an iPod with a phone, and I play a lot of games on my phone. Those are very strong areas for the iPhone. Where Android wins is free apps and the ability to create my own apps (I'm a professional programmer). We'll see what Android phones come out before the VZW iPhone hits...
 
Yeah, I most likely will not develop any iPhone apps. But as a end user, I actually do like Apple's vetting process. I like the idea that the apps I run meet a certain standard of quality, and they have been checked for malware. (Maybe that's fantasy, I don't know, but that's what I think goes on behind the scenes of Apple's app store.)
 
The iphone I've had the last two years has been very reliable. The OS is extremely stable. The new Iphones have voice dailing over blue-tooth headsets without having to touch the phone, which Android still doesn't support. If the iphone was on Verizon, it would be hard to switch to Android. Google Navigation would be the only incentive for me. But, since I'm finally free of AT&Ts crappy network, I'm getting the Droid on Saturday!
 
I agree with you, I liked my iPhone a lot. I would still have it but couldn't get signal with AT&T and since I had the G1 with T-Mobile I already knew that I would end up getting another Android OS phone.
 
look honestly the way my mytouch always force closes i would go back to the iphone.. im actually considering paying the 200 to get out of this tmobile contract.
 
Once you get past the fluidity of the OS and the multitude of apps, the iphone is just plain boring. The UI is just pages of icons. The customizability of Android is far and away superior to the iphone. Apple will seriously need to reinvent their hardware and software to prevent losing market share because the iphone is officially stale.

Couldn't have said it better myself. The iPhone has a lot of great apps, and the phone is fluid. But yeah you are right, I love being able to customize my home screen.
 
Android users, in my opinion, are the ones who get into their phones––which is everyone on this forum. The iPhone was made to be simple to use and fast. If it didn't have the app store, it would be dead. I love apple, just not their phones. Anyway, with the Nexus getting lots of attention, I hope that it attracts lots of developers for super cool apps––apps like the iPhone.
 
I will agree with you Ruben. Android users by far have done more tinkering, modding, and UI tweaking than iPhone users. The iPhone is really a smartphone for "average" users. Android is definitely still niche but give it 2 years and watch Apple's stock hemorrhage.
 
Ok Im gonna give an unbias opinion because I know this is an android forum and Android fanboys will not give a fair statement just like apple fanboys wouldnt be fair. If Verizon brought the iPhone to Verizon this summer (as the rumor states) and its the 4g iPhone, with (rumored) OLED screen and (rumored) hardware upgrade. I would switch. I have an iTouch and I love it. My girl has a 3gs and I love it. Apple's product has way better polished applications that android has. And when developers make the same app for both the iPhone and Android we usually get short changed and get a washed down version. The main reason for this is because Google refuses to allow you to store apps on your SD card. Another reason I would get the iPhone is because I like apple products(as well as Google products dont get me wrong) and I have a shit load of apps, movies and music in my iTunes. It would be just an easy transition for me. The reason I got the Droid was because I was happy to see finally a good alternative to the iPhone on the Verizon and as badly as I wanted an iPhone I refused to go to At&t's network who my iPhone friends complain about constantly. While if I get an iPhone I would miss the fact that you can 100% customize the Droid anyway you want. I think android needs to grow a little more and google needs to step up and work with these developers so we arent getting short changed all the time.
 
I agree with a lot of what you said. I think that by this summer, Goggle will have released several more versions of its OS, and it will only get better. One of the things I really didn't like about the iphone was having only one button. You basically have to go back to the main screen to get anywhere. It will be interesting to see if the next generation iphone has a bigger screen, more buttons, more customization, and the Verizon network. But I'm willing to bet that you won't be able to do things like tether for free on an iphone without jailbreaking it. Apple will still control the app store.
