Just wanted to share with other cricket fans - that there is a finally an Android app for receiving IPL series cricket notifications in the background:

Although, we are through several games already there are still plenty of games left for this app to be useful. The developer is promising to grow the app with our feedback to other ICC cricket games and add more features to his widget.
I for one, have waited forever for an IPL cricket widget that wasn't just a dumb RSS app!
