iPod disconnect WiFi

So my iPod had been disconnecting since I got it. I assumed it was a problem with my MiFi device, but it wasn't. My iPod constantly disconnects no matter what WiFi I'm on, MiFi, truck stop, dads house, moms house. Even sitting right next to the router didn't help.

I did a lot of of research on this issue, and I found out its not just my iPod, or iPods in general. It's all Apple products. I read reports of iPads, iPhones, and even Mac computers having this issue. I failed to find a solution.

Well I've been beating the crap out of my iPod after the first month I got it (because of this issue). I had it for almost a year. Constant disconnecting is extremely frustrating. And when I say it disconnects, it's pretty much random. Sometimes once an hour (very rare to go this long). Sometimes within 5 seconds of reconnecting. Sometimes every 10 seconds for 2 minutes.

Imagine watching a YouTube video, and it disconnects 7 times in 5 minutes, and it takes about 8 seconds for the Network menu to pop up to reconnect. Very annoying. Well this happens all the time on my iPod.

To release my frustrations of this thing's disconnection issue, I beat it up. I've stabbed it with a pen, leaving a nick on the screen, I always slam it agains the table. Throw it at something. Punch it. Hold it hard and twist it, bend it, ect. It just won't break. Until now.

You should see my iPod. It's hideous. Screen won't snap back on, only held on by glue on the bottom. The back looks like the moon. It's full of dents and craters. The middle of the back is caved in, and there's dents on the sides. You can see the backlight around the edges of the screen, and in the camera hole.

I have to give it credit for being a tough device though. I'm surprised this is the first time I broke it. It's not really broke though because I fixed it. The connection to the screen came undone, so I pried open the screen and plugged it back in. Doing a small amount of damage to the display though. Little bit of grayness in the bottom right corner that won't go away. The screen was already popping out, because of all the abuse I gave it in the last couple months. Just took a tiny metal thing and finished prying the bottom. Fairly easy fix and I'm proud of myself. I also had the power bottom get mashed in. I pried that back open.

This crapper only needs to last 2 more days. I ordered a Razr Maxx and it's at home waiting for me. Hopefully the Maxx doesn't have any issues.

So anyone else with an iPod or Apple device have this disconnecting issue? I was thinking about waiting for a 4g iPhone if I don't like Android, but if it has disconnecting issues I'll pass.

javasirc,
I hope you really like your new Razr Maxx. I laughed out loud reading about you iPod, could you post up some photos for us. I am just picturing duct tape and band aids.:D

Well I got the Razr Maxx. I'm pretty disappointed with it. It has a dead pixel. And it's so slow I can hardly read while scrolling. And I would take some pictures of my iPod, but boy does the Razr Maxx's camera suck. And the screen is so pixelated it's butt ugly.

Now I'm seeing the good (or great) side of Apple products. The retina display spoiled me, as well as the polished features such as text editing and clearing a text-input box. The large screen is nice though. I'd return this for an iPhone, but they don't have a 4G one yet, and I need Verizon's double data so 3G isn't an option.

I'm fixing to rant on the Razr Maxx forum. I'm very very not happy right now.

I returned the Razr Maxx for one that doesnt have a dead pixel. Fairly easy, it went better than i thought. Its going to take some getting used to the pixelation. I dont really want to exchange it for a different phone completely, but it costs me $300 and im on a 2 year contract so i might as well get something i like.

The RAZR/Maxx have some of the most impressive hardware on the market right now. The screen is something that takes some getting used to, but I think it is pretty fantastic.

4G is amazing as well.

Sounds like you are going to trade it in anyway, though. Whatever happens, good luck to you.
