Hello,
I was checking the coverage map of my GSM provider for a given area, and I see that the area has 4G and 2G reception, but not also 3G reception.
Now, my phone is a bit older (Samsung S3) and is only 3G- (but not also 4G-)enabled. My question: is the 4G coverage backwards-compatible, i.e. will it give me Internet access on my 3G-only smartphone? Or are these protocols completely independent, such that I will only be able to use 2G services (calls, texts, slow GPRS internet) on my phone?
Many thanks for any clarifications!
