Most content requires not just a mouse click, but a mix of arrow keys, wasd, space and enter. In fact, FAR more need a combination of them than not. Though some content is being converted, there will still be a lot more content that would work, but can not, due to a lack of inputs on touch-only devices.
Since there are far more devices that do not have keyboards, it seems a virtual pad interface that has arrows, space, wasd and enter options would be a a very nice interface option and have a strong market for it.
Is this possible? I think there would be a market for such an interface app. I would buy it and pay up to $5 for it. added: Not much of a market sample for price elasticity though (one person).
