is ADW Launcher officially dead?

So, is this app officially dead? There's been no updates since January, and on 3/24 the developer closed the comments section on his blog - that's not a good sign. :(
 
I hope not, it's definitely my favorite launcher. Fast and I loves me some hidden dock action. If he is done with it he needs to pass it off to some other DEV who can keep it going I can't imagine it would be too hard to find one that would be willing.
 
No idea, ADW works great in Froyo but in Gingerbread roms it seems to suffer memory leaks and the desktop space becomes unusable so I stopped using it. ADW and LauncherPro are falling behind quickly with the new features many other launchers are putting out.

Those two were top for so long! There was supposed to be a new version of LP coming out completely re written from the ground up, but it has never appeared yet either.

And still it gets updates, the dev has not left it for dead, has he?

Isn't ADW open-source? In theory, anyone with enough interest and expertise should be able to pick up from right where things are now.

How exactly is LauncherPro falling behind??
 
It seems like it would be hard to keep making money from the app with free alternatives available and getting better fast...go launcher...and other launchers people will go to because they liked then on other operating systems...spb... Lots of people bought adw but if you are just getting into android now there are plenty of good alternatives and even more bad ones...

There are people out there like me who prefer paying for apps as opposed to using 'free' apps where they make their money off your information. I hope LauncherPro's developer does get it going again, but I have to say, I can do anything I want with the app now, so I'm happy.

I think he went silent due to the rewrite being more difficult than he thought, and also to let the furor die down after the beta-version expiration disaster.
 
Still using free adw here with excellent results on froyo.I'll look for alternatives after my isp issues gingerbread

There were also rumblings about Fede facing health and family issues. It's good to see he's back now, though.
 
I finally gave in and downloaded ADW EX last week and love it! Still your ADW features with new screen options. A lot of Youtube vids showing some of the new features!
 
hey guys, i have just lached onto the adw launcher, and i've customized it all. The launcher is great... However, i have been looking around to see if i can find a customizable unlock screen to replace my current bog standard way of unlocking my screen lol, but had no look at finding any.

Any ideas or if someone already has one? Would be great to have to some advice

Widget Locker $1.99 on the market and the best money you'll spend for your Android phone :D
 
I am so glad ADW is not dead. I totally LOVE this launcher...had the free one, for like ever, then I upgraded to the Ex Launcher. This program is totally the bomb, very customizable and user friendly in my opinion. I hope he keeps up the good work....so I can donate some more :)

Hmmm... from the market reviews, it sounds like it's a battery hog and a bit buggy. Are any of those reports true?

On the topic of Launchers, I've always loved GoLauncher's advanced customisability compared to LauncherPro and ADW. The latter two need to have the folders-in-appdrawer and more than 7 homescreens. However, it was lagging my SGS to the point of unusability, so I'm liking Launcher Pro's smoothness at the moment.

Are there any launchers where you can have more advanced home screen arrangements than a simple line (whereby often the middle home screen is the default)? I'd love to have a 5 home-screen plus formation (upward and downward scrolling), or even a 3x3 grid of 9 home screens (where the center one is default).
 
hi guys,

+2 for widget locker :) have used it for ages and no issues at all - think there is a new release in the offing too

launcher wise - i was using Adw ex previously but after my last phone reset am trying out Go launcher - both are nice imo - GL currently handles launcher restarts better than ADW - but only after the recent update :)
