Help Is Android more secure than Apple's IOS iphones?

In the last few weeks I saw articles on a few breaches on Apple's IOS and the recent one where Apple gave approval to a company or companies to signed their apps as trusted apps. These apps could potentially install malware on the iphones.

I know android has it own securities issues, but lately it's been Apple's IOS and some security flaws were even critical.

To be honest, I'm not sure Android is more secure than iOS. I have been using Android over 3 years, and I haven't have any issue about security.
In my opinion, if you worry about the security, you can download apps from official app stores, like Google Play, iTunes App Store. Besides, download some mobile security apps, like Mobile Security & Antivirus, AntiVirus Security - FREE, etc.

I always use official app store like Google PLay. And I use Lookout which is an malware/virus checker.

There are some sites online that offer paid versions of android apps FREE for downloading, but I avoid those apps like the plague because who really knows what those apps contained within.
