Is APK Mirror a good source?

I've downloaded about a handful of apk's in my Android life.

I caught a targeted news feed about a new Xiaomi app, MIUI+, a few days ago, although I have forgotten why I thought it may be useful
They had a link for it directly but I was getting off a train.

I've done a quick search and APK Mirror has plenty of app apk's for MIUI devices in chronological order over the last few days (it seems).

Are they a well known source? I'm not worried for that particular one - I'm just tempted to try the other apk's I see, but which might interfere with the regular Xiaomi "System Apps Updater" source on my Poco.

All I know about software is that it's possibly different to hardware.
