Is cootekservice.com notification a spam and how can I stop it.

Hello All.

New here and 1st post, I have read as much usage instructions as possible but I may have missed something.
I have been driven here out of desperation and annoyance.

I have:
Model: Huawei Y361-U31.
Firware & Baseband: ?
Kernel: 3.4.67.
Build: Y361-U31V100R001C443B105.
Carrier: EE.
Country: UK.
Android: 4.4.2.
Hardware: VER.A.

I thought I was getting notifications from TouchPal because it would show their logo on the notifications screen.

And I have received them before, telling me to upgrade, it would redirect me to GooglePlay or AppStore, cannot remember which.
And when I tried to download, it told me phone was not compatible, obviously it's old, but these were some time ago.

The notifications I'm getting now are different and I really don't trust them.

Although it shows the TouchPal logo on the right as part of the text, it shows a different large logo on the left.
A logo for an app I do not have and have never downloaded, a blue logo with white vertical lines in it.

Reading some of the posts and links here I think it looks like Airpush or something similar, it looks like forcing an advert into my notifications screen so it looks important.
It's a pain in the backside.

When I click on the notification now, it directs me to a website cootekservice.com not the AppStore or GooglePlay as I expected.

I have taken some screenshots, but I cannot tell if it's posting them properly or not.

These are the pop-ups on the locked screen.

The Notifications screen.

The website.

I have gone into TouchPal app and unchecked the notifications box, but if this doesn't work what else can I do to stop it.

Here is the full link if anyone is interested to see more.

Hi @GotTheGearButNoIdea welcome to Android Forums! :)

I removed the link at the end of your post for security reasons. We're not really sure what it is, but it could be nasty.

As for posting images, you've got some malformed links. You posted
Code:
[IMG]http://Screenshot_2018-12-04-11-40-37.png Pop-up on lock screen.[/IMG]

Which looks like a URL link to a local file.

If you want to share an image it should either be uploaded directly using the "UPLOAD A FILE" link at the bottom of the web UI, or attached if you're using the app using the paperclip icon. Or, you can post them to a media sharing site and then post the URL.

The notification issue is most likely spam or adware that came along as part of an app that you recently installed or upgraded.

I used the picture icon, the same one here between the emoji and camera icons.
I'm trying to find someway to upload them as I'm not on social media, will it work from my Google Drive.

Have not installed an app in a long time, I have updated some but these would be: GooglePlay, Google, Chrome, YouTube, (Google) Docs, and others like that.
But they all came with the phone other than Docs which I downloaded about two years ago, but this problem is recent.

A mate is letting me post the screenshots to facebook, just got to figure out how to get it here.

These are in same order as before.

I tried copying link address and download link and embedding them using the camera icon, but the picture icon for inserting the image url was the only one your website would let me do.

Hell it's done it again, it will let me email them, is there a public email address.

Cootek is a Chinese data services company that TouchPal uses, and so I expect what you're seeing is almost certainly from TouchPal. We've had reports before about TouchPal, being particularly spammy and ad laden.

Suggest you remove TouchPal, and use another keyboard instead.
Gboard and Swiftkey are often recommended on here, and I use them myself, they don't show ads and don't phone home your private data to China.

I have a ZTE phone manufactured in China, and touchpal came pre installed. I use SwiftKey keyboard and disabled touchpal altogether
