Help Is it just me, or is there ALWAYS something with this phone??

So I really do like this phone, but there always seems to be something quirky going on with it that I have to do a google search on to figure out the solution to. Just last night all my songs in my stock media player decided that they werent compatible with the player. So I typed in my problem into google and low and behold I wasnt the only one that had this problem. Luckily all I had to do is just clear the data in the applications and wah-lah! It works. Another issue is my stock gallery freezing up from time to time. And when I plug in my phone to KIES to sync my pictures to my computer, I re-open my gallery on my phone and I will have two camera folders with the same pictures. WTF?? Im so frustrated with constantly having to crack the code on the quirks.

BTW....I dont know if this has anything to do with my problems, but I do have GO Launcher, Go SMS, and a few other apps on my phone.

From the info provided is difficult to narrow down to specifics.

Do you get the "copy" of the camera folder while your phone is syncing with kies, or after you have unplugged the phone / closed kies? If it's during the sync, it may be that your seeing a folder as a result of the system caching ready to send them to the pc.

Be aware that pictures taken in burst mode well always be saved to your "internal sd card" (the one built in) while you have the option to save singular pictures taken, to the internal or external sd cards. Meaning that if you have pictures from busting, they will appear in one camera folder. While singular pictures will appear in a separate camera folder if you have chosen to save them to external sd card, instead of internal.

Also be aware that the external sd card might not sync as often as you may expect. And this may cause thumbs of cached pictures to show up in multiple files in the gallery until you force an sd card refresh (goto settings > storage > unmount > then mount the Sd, and it will rescan the external sd card and your gallery will update to the current effect.

hmmm...when you say "sync" do you mean with my phone itself from the sd card?

oh and another stupid thing this phone does is deletes music from my playlists from my stock music player. So annoying.

i had a similar issue with the phone deleting music from a playlist it turned out the music was on the MMC card and when i connected the phone or removed the memory card it would loose the info as the songs were no longer available just keep all ure music on internal memory you should be fine.

The reason u have 2 camera folders is most likely the pictures are there on both the MMC and internal memory. TBH the easiest way to keep pictures/videos safe is to use dropbox.

well if I keep my music on my internal memory of my phone then If something happens to my phone I will lose all my songs, I guess I will just have to constantly keep my phone updated onto my computer.

what do u mean by if something happens to my phone? Easier way than wasting time with creating playlists is just create folders on the external memory or internal memory and put all the songs u want in one folder and then u can just play songs from that folder only. Thats what i have done.

When syncing your phone onto your laptop with kies.

Mine has always been quirky which drives me NUTS. I love the hardware (home button, SD card, removable battery) but they just suck at developing reliable software and don't even get me started on Keis...it's a JOKE.

Been waiting for Cyanogenmod to produce a good ROM and I'm happy to report that the most recent builds are finally rock-steady. No bugs, no quirks, smooth and reliable.

I would highly recommend rooting your phone and upgrading. Samsung just doesn't really care about the overall stability of the software they deliver with their phones and I would just give-up hoping they will ever fix it.

Nothing wrong with kies. It's a simple affair, install, USB the phone, wait for the pc to detect all the devices and everything installs, and I'd be surprised if you have issues. The only thing I've noticed is it takes a while to backup app's when you do a full backup. Other than that of it does is job fine. Problems start when kies has not been uninstalled correctly and reinstalled with conflicting registry entries etc.

On the whole there's very little wrong with a stock S3, evan on the software front. The Samsung email app sucks but worse than that is the stock sms app. Easy enough to find good alternatives though.

Any reason I did have to root and go to (when available) a cyanogen mod ROM has now been addressed with recent updates and decent apps. Android is evolving nicely, at least for my needs.

I agree with OP. There is always something "wrong" with my S3. Currently (International) won't recognise a car dock. Has made it illegal to use in a car in UK (unless you bluethooth it). Rubbish support from Samsung, their staff tend not to know what they are talking about. I have LOADS of instances where their support answer are just incorrect. Ho hum. 28 days to renewal upgrade...

i just don't get it , mine is a uk version , with 1gb of ram and running stock and never had a single issue with it .
battery life is a lot better than i could have asked for .

it was the same when i had a Samsung galaxy s2 , there were loads of issues from various people but i didn't have a single issue .

i would add though , show me a product that works 100% of the time with 100% stability and i will show you a liar .

but good luck in sorting it out.

Um I mean like if I accidently drop my phone in the toliet or something like that.....

So I can create folders in "my files" section?

I dont really have a problem with KIES... I havent seen on there where it backs up my apps. Where can I find this? And I still want to be able to back up on KIES using just wifi. Can I do this by going into settings>more settings>Kies via wi-fi ??

ya just create a folder on the external memory either under the music folder or create a new folder called new music or anything u want to call it and put all ure new songs into that folder then you can select that folder to play in the music player and listen to songs only from that folder.

i've never used kies but you should just be able to plug the phone in, find your pics folder, and just drag and drop.

some people are used to syncing though. i've always been a drag and drop guy, even back when i had an ipod putting music on it.

Are you talking about doing this on the computer or on the phone? Can you walk a dumb blonde like me through this a little bit more please?

Kies has a bar divided into 4 tabs near the top (you may be using kies in lite mode) the left is sync, there is also backup / restore on the right

Not sure about over WiFi though.

you can do it on either the pc or the phone if ure doing it on the pc then connect the phone and go to my computer and you should see your phone there open it go to external memory and create new folder and then paste all new songs in that folder.

If you are doing it on the phone go to my files external memory click menu and new folder and give folder name then copy songs you want and paste them in the new folder.

oh ok that sounds great. sounds easier to do it on my pc. but ill try it on my phone too. thanks a bunch.

so i went to my file manager on my phone and my music is already stored in my external sd card. When I create a subfolder of songs I want grouped together they will just show up that way on my music player correct?

Ok so I went into my files and created a playlist folder, started copying some files over... Then my phone started to slow down and freeze so I closed out my apps to clear some ram and when I went back into my files and into my external memory card it said I had no files... WTF.... So I turned my phone off and back on and they were all there thank god. But this is just another fuxking thing I hate about this piece of shit phone.
