Is it possible to mute the news?

When I'm browsing android forums.... its often hard to see the questions/content from users because of all of the stories from "Android News".

These used to be jumping off points for discussions, but now that they're just links to other websites, there isn't a lot there that I can't get from other sources.

Now, I appreciate that some people like them, and find them useful. But I don't.

Is there a way that I can turn them off? (a way to turn them back on again would also be useful)

If there was more meat in the original post that explained the article would that fix your problem? Maybe we can find a way to have better forum/channel top level options so that in addition to "favoriting" people can also mute, get new topic notifications, etc...

Here's the missing pic....

If I want to see only news.. I can select the "News" tab, if I want to see only my stuff I can select the "my stuff" link at the top bar. However if i want to see only Forums and I select "Forums" I get a mixture of News and Forums.

This was less of a problem when there were more forum posts, and less news items. Now however there are pages that contain lots and lots of news... but not many forum posts.

The lack of "meat" in the news items makes this worse... but even if the news posts were "full fat" versions, i'd still like a way of browsing the forum posts separately.

I know Pixels are interesting devices.. but Android news articles on them from different sites are swamping the main feed.


Is there any chance we could have a mute button... a news free list of recent posts or some way of temporarily opting out?

Can you add the @Android News account to your ignore list?

It doesn't work for me, but I think as a moderator I can't ignore people.

EDIT: Nope, doesn't work, and I can ignore users.

Already tried that... and it doesn't work as Android News isn't quite like a standard user

I have the Forums set to Favorites, and since News isn't one of my Favorites I don't see those posts on the front page at all.

In the last hour, 2 dozen news items have landed on the front page.

I know the Mods here are great at stopping adverts for horoscopes , love potions and warranties for air conditioners... but i suspect they would get in trouble for removing these "chopped meat and ham" posts from the newsbot.


I know some people want them, thats fine... but pretty please with a cherry on top, can we have some way to mute them?
