I downgraded to 4.2.2 in order to root. Is it possible to upgrade to 4.4.2 and still be able to preserve root privileges?
Sorry, you didn't state that you were on that, most other KitKat variants are rootable, T-mobile one is not so I answered for the majority of devices variants... they did not "remove" recovery, that would cause the phone to no longer function, it just isn't available from adb (adb reboot recovery) anymore, stupid on their part.I've read that 4.4.2 D801 wasn't able to be rooted because the newest update removes recovery. I have the T-Mobile variant.
Just had to comment that I love that the word "survival" was censored! Carry on.I can't speak for the T-Mobile version specifically, but most versions if you install 4.2.2, root and update with latest SuperSU (make sure to go into settings and install into /system), then upgrade to Pro and turn on OTA Sur****l Mode, you should be good to go to take the OTA.
EDIT: WTF... the above "blocked" word is S.u.r.v.i.v.a.l.
