Is it safe to save images from messenger?

Friends, my questions is simply about security. Now although rare, i know that sometimes photos can contain malware or whatsoever.
Now due to my job i am "forced" to recive photos on my messenger app and than upload them on facebook page. Now when i get the photo on messanger it clearly identifies it as photo becuase it allows me to draw on it, open it and whatsoever.
However i still need to save the image on my device, and than upload it to couple of social media accounts. My question is, if i simply save the image from messenger, without even opening it, that directly upload it to the social media accounts, and than delete it at the moment, is there any danger to my device one way or another?
thanks for the help friends

Danny, thanks for the respone. I figured another way, instead of sending me the photos, the people will upload them on facebook account and will simply screenshot the photos from there, without having any access to them at all. So in other words, is screenshoting a photo from facebook dangerous?

A screenshot is a recording of what is currently being displayed on your screen. Nothing more. So the only way it can contain anything nasty is if your phone's operating system put it there, i.e. your phone is completely corrupted to begin with.

In other words, no, it's not dangerous.

In all of my years working in graphic design I've never seen any type of jpg image file full of malware, period
Be it used on Android or PCs ...
And believe me, I have worked with internationally known companies so I've seen them all. A jpg file is a flattened file with no layers to it. You are safe and a screen shot is no different than the original jpg for that matter.
