Is it the same thing?

Is a PC and a laptop the same thing, a laptop just being a portable PC?

Well, sort of.

A PC has a separate keyboard and mouse from the processing unit.

A laptop has all in one device, with a 'scratchpad' instead of a mouse.

Generally, a PC has greater processing and storage capability than a laptop.
So it is faster, can multitask better, and has larger storage memory.

Of course, many PC setups are basically junk, and there are good laptops that will run circles around them.

Personally, I don't like either one at all, and I am eager for the day when phones surpass computers completely.
They already do, as far as online useage.

User input may be a factor, (I don't like trackpads) portability, screen requirements / availability cost vs needs, upgrade ability.

The question is extremely vague, but I think in general, pc's are superior to laptops, whereas laptops are better than pc"s.

In its purest form, yes, a PC--which simply means "personal computer"--can be either a laptop or desktop.

And it has NOTHING to do with the operating system on it.

Over the years, the term "PC" has come to mean, by default, a desktop computer running window$ as its OS. NO, NO, NO!!!

My house is full of PCs, both laptops and desktops, and you won't find window$ (or Mac) on any of them. :D

Personal
Compture is where the P.C. shortening of the word does come from,
it mean anything you touch it is your comp, I have a tablet, I have this ancient desktop tower, as well as I have my android cell.
