Is it worth getting Revue without having cable/satelite?

Here is my situation. We just moved and our new place does not have ATT UVERSE cable. Our only other option for cable is Direct Tv and Dish. 2 options I don't want. UVERSE will be in our new area sometime in the future and would like to hold off until then instead of being stuck on a 12 month contract.
So I wanted to know if anyone here has purchased the logitech revue without having any "live tv". Is it worth it for just the netflix and youtube and chrome? I know not having hulu.com is a deal breaker but that should be arriving soon, right?
What are you thoughts? I plan to purchase one this weekend but only if it's worth it without live tv.

Well, ultimately that's a decision only you can make. I unplugged from cable many years ago. GTV is, essentially, my computer for the living room. It's quiet (a key feature in my opinion) and functional.

I wish the Sony box I have had an OTA tuner built in. It's disappointing that it doesn't. I do like to get the local news and have to switch the TV input to its tuner to get it, which means no news in a window. Of course, that wouldn't have been a problem if my TV supported some sort of picture in picture, but it doesn't.

So you also don't have cable/live tv...and you like it. O.K, that's what I wanted to know.

Any updates if GTV will get hulu.com soon? or be rooted?

This can't come soon enough. Hulu is pretty much owned by the same networks that are blocking Google TV from their web content, so I wouldn't hold my breath for a resolution any time soon.

Rooting the GTV units is proving to be a lot more difficult than with phones, because their ADBD service (debugging over USB) is disabled by default. People are still working on it though. But root isn't the only thing that could be used to bypass the content blocks. If Android Market was available for GTV, other browsers and 3rd-party apps could easily do that as well.

Yeah, I am using GTV without cable... The reason being that the set top box from Cox has no HDMI slot... So, I am using it mainly to watch some shows on YouTube or check emails and such... But I think it has more use than that even without the TV... ;)
