There is usually an option in the camera settings to enable or disable location tags when taking pics.
If you want to be sure there is no metadata attached to your images when you share them, you can use an app called Scrambled EXIF which removes it.
Isn't the camera responsible for geotagging and then the media with geotag information is stored in device's storage and only then can we choose to upload our media to cloud (Google photos)? So for Google photos to know the location the geotagging has to be enabled in camera in the first place, right?
