Is Lookout legit? Necessary to setup? - Lookout

Im new to android, coming from iOS, and using a gs5 for now. I noticed an app called Lookout was installed after factory reset, and I was wondering if it were necessary to set this up or if there were a better alternative? Or should I delete?

How bad is the malware / virus situation on android anyways? As long as I stick to downloading apps only from reputable publishers on the play store, I should be good right?

I recommend disabling or deleting if you can.

I never need an antivirus on my devices. You really won't need them.

Thanks everybody, will probably end up deleting. Definitely won't setup an account

It certainly won't hurt. I got lookout premium for free through T-Mobile Jump. One of its coolest features is that if someone steals your phone and powers it down, it will use the front camera of your phone to take a picture of the perp, which I feel can be useful in a situation like that.

On a side note, I'm only using it because it's free. But I don't need it. I've been on Android for about 6 or 7 years now and NEVER experienced malware or viruses.

As far as anti virus goes, I don't use lookout, I use 360 security. But that's because it also has a sweet memory clearing widget & can also clear junk files & cookies as well as be a anti virus. It's really good.

Unfortunately they have been adding more and more ads to the program, and is really annoying, I have the paid version, still crazy amount of ads. I'm looking for a new program that's similar.

1 that acts like a task killer, junk file cleaner, locks apps, anti virus. Etc.

As far as anti virus being needed, there are some nasty viruses that go around on android, I've seen some get the virus (usually not tech savvy people clicking on ad bait) but it happens. If you get the ap drippler it will tell you about new Android viruses & new Android apps etc. It's ok mostly repetitive, but nice.
