Help Is motoblur a real ui?

So I don't have much experience with the stock android system but it seems that motoblur works by placing custom widgets showing all the rss feeds and networking sites. I know that having a phone with a custom interface slows down the speed we get updates to new firmware versions I would suggest to motorola that the motoblur widgets can be an exclusive download from the app market and run on a standalone android system. Why wouldn't something like that work? What do you guys think? Would you consider this a real ui or just a collection of widgets?

Well, as far as I can tell it does integrate more account types into the behind-the-scenes action. I haven't played with stock Android phones to know whether it is common to have the facebook, twitter, myspace and the other account types integrated. And then link them all in the contacts like that.

It's more like an overlay that goes on top of the Android system. Call it a open-on-boot application that is integrated into the android system.

HTC sense is more of a modification to the android system then the Blur stuff is.

The Phone can run without Motoblur (Had the issue when I first got it because verizon was ******ed and skipped through that step when setting up the phone) just fine. You can remove the widgets from the home screen, skip the motoblur set-up, and run a basic android system with some Verizon pre-installed stuff.

All in all, not really a ui in any sense, just a big system managed widget. nothing more

No it's not common for stock android phones. You can download apps from the market, but stock androids do not integrate like the devour does. Like i've said above me, the Blur is just a system managed widget controlled by a custom coded part of the android system that is written to manage everything motoblur. I could make a MaNGOS (WoW private server source) reference, but I doubt anyone would get it.
