Help Is my galaxy S3 genuine?

Hey folks,

I just bought an Galaxy S3 and im wondering if it`s a real one or not. I tryd the imei and it did show up, tho my s3 is black and the one on imei.info is white..? Is there another way i can make sure that the one i have is real? Like say: I got samsung apps, i got the 4.1.2 kernel (latest). The phone is updating and everything seems and sounds like the real deal. What is strange also: the imei says 32gb tho the mine is 16? Any tips. The phone codes *#1234# and the sorts work.

Welcome to the forums Akinz. I ran that imei info test on my phone and it gave me completely bogus information so take that sites info with a grain of salt. imei info didn't even get the brand right on my phone. :creep:

Thanks for the reply. Any idea on how i can check if my phone is real and not a fake one? Perhaps posting the device info?
 
From something like an "ebay" but then a dutch version. If there are any other S3 users, what kind of things should i see on "about device". I got the following:

Model-number

Android-version
4.1.2

Baseband-version

Kernel-version

Does this say anything? Do fake ones resemble this, i mean there must be some way to find out if it`s a real one or not, right?
 
Folks, dont the kernl and version num say anything about it being real or fake? Or the code *#0*# ? i sadly cant make a picture, but the fake ones cant be seen from the real by just looking. dontpanicbobby, know a good S3 forum? I checked google but.. not to promising.
 
It's right here at phandroid Akinz. This section "The Lounge" is for more casual non-phone related posts. Click on the forums tab near the top of the page then scroll down until you find the section with your phones name on it. That's where you'll find most S3 users.

Hang on and I'll move this thread.

The baseband is usually a good clue. Don't have an S3 and can't Google it atm, but someone will know. It's not the most obvious fake baseband anyway.
 
Yeah, I've done a little searching now and baseband, kernel, version numbers all match genuine Samsung builds (even found someone in France who had them all together ;)). I reckon you're ok.
 
Thanks for your help folks! i contacted Samsung, but they just asked for imei. My imein started with 35xxxx and thus they rocked it was an original.. but im ok now. Thanks.
