Help Is my Galaxy S3 locked to Orange?

I got an S3 in August here in the UK, on a 2 year contract with Orange.

I've rooted the phone, but I was wondering if it'll be locked to Orange?

Thanks, but I want to sell the phone, so I don't want to leave my Play Store account signed in.

Can't I just root then flash the non-carrier branded ROM?

Have you put a non Orange sim in to check if it is unlocked? Or does it have any Orange branded apps installed on the phone?

Probably is locked but, suppose there is a small chance it isn't locked to them. Only way to know for sure is to try a sim from a different network - perhaps a family member or friend is on a different network.

I just put my girlfriend's O2 SIM in and I could make calls, so guess it's unlocked. Thing is, I've rooted and tried all sorts of different ROMs over the last few months, so I guess at some point I've flashed a ROM with an unlocked baseband??

Then it must be unlocked :D. I wasn't sure if custom ROMs could unlock the S3 but, SUroot has said simlock and roms are different, so must have been unlocked from the start.

You say you're rooted at the moment but, do you have the stock firmware on the phone?

Also, even though the contract is with Orange, was it them you bought the phone from, or another retailer? Ie, I got mine on T-Mobile from Mobiles.co.uk and it was unlocked to all networks and quite a few other companies are the same.

Not all carriers sim lock all phones now. Custom roms don't unlock the sim. Nor do basebands.

Cpw, mobiles, phones4u are all unlocked. Also unbranded. That way the same s3 can be given to the next customer regardless of what Contract they take. They get q lot of business that way. Offering contracts with handsets the carrier don't have
