Help Is my phone broken, or is it just my charger?

Hello all,

Basically I've been having problems with charging my phone.

Originally my s3 mini simply stopped charging using the charger it came with, however it was still charging fine using my Asus tablet charger. I posted on the forum about the issue and many agreed it was likely that my charger simply broke since my phone was still charging.

So, i'd been using the Asus charger for months now and my phone was charging fine, but today I transferred a video from my phone to my laptop using the USB port, and now it's not charging correctly.

If I insert the charger normally it doesn't respond, but if I push the charger slightly upwards then it responds.

Does anyone have any ideas why this might be? Judging from the info given do you think it is an issue with the charger itself or the phone?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like normal wear & tear, namely the USB/charging port on the phone.
Might not be too expensive to have it replaced/repaired locally,YMMV.

Since a lot of things use the "mini-usb" chargers now a days aside from phones, we have a ton of chargers and cables in our house, and a lot of times it's just finding one that fits in nice and snug to the charging port. If you can't find ANY that work, it could be the port on the phone, which is a fairly cheap repair, I'd take it in to a shop and have it done right!!
